Yellow Teeth

Yellow teeth before tooth whitening

The Problem:

A tooth or teeth can be yellow, crooked, or both. Drinking a lot of coffee, tea, cola, or red wine can turn your teeth yellow, as can eating certain fruits and vegetables. Other factors that can cause yellow teeth are tobacco use, sickness, certain medications, and aging.

The Solution:

Because the teeth were not only yellow but were mal-proportioned, we created porcelain veneers for the six front teeth. One advantage of porcelain veneers is that they will never discolor.

Another option for the problem of yellow teeth is a cosmetic teeth whitening treatment, where a patient is fitted with a custom tray to ensure maximum tooth coverage for a convenient take-home gel whitening kit. That way they can bleach the teeth at their convenience. If the trays are kept, the teeth whitening can repeated over the years as the yellowing returns.

A third option is an in-office application of a gel whitening solution.

The Result:

This patient now has a stunning, brighter smile that he –– and I –– are proud to show off!
